President Biden revoked the permit for the keystone pipeline from Canada to the US, shortly after taking office. So Trudeau does a tit for tat. Screw the US bastards. I'll  keep our border closed due to "Covid concerns" feasible?

Probably something much more mundane that this.

Lots of Canadians with winter vacation spots in Florida and other southern states lost out last year, probably as many or more than Americans losing out from going north.

I would just stay away from Canada all together until all this Covid crap goes away. Canada is still locked down. They are only allowing US tourists to drive through to Alaska. If you deviate from your route, you WILL be arrested. So trying to be a tourist in Canada will not happen now, the police in Canada are being quite extreme. Just go somewhere else besides Canada, for now. Good Luck, TomC

Thus these reasons why we chose not to do AK this year. Did the Alcan twice & now desire to explore Yukon a bit as it is our next door neighbor from Tok AK...

I lived in Alaska for 13 years. Made the Alcan trip I think 4 times, mostly to attend schools for the military in the lower 48. Waaay too long to make it without fuel a couple of times. It is a long way from points in BC to the border and soon after, TOK Alaska, with lots of fuel sucking hills. Alaska is a huge place. If you cut it in half, Texas is still 3rd, and it has more coastline than the lower 48.
However. You can go from Tok to Fairbanks, south to Anchorage, maybe more south to Homer or Seward, and back out to TOK. If you make that "loop", you have seen some of the SE 1/4 of the state. I worked for the military up there. Got to see a lot of it from the air. Amazing place and we loved it there, but winters got progressively depressing. Not from the cold but the darkness in winter. Rita was way ready for more sun, so when a slot opened up to finish my 24 year career back in home state of Colorado, we departed. Took our 29 foot Winnebago Brave out of there in late May 2000. Almost nothing open that early and barely made fuel points. Took us 3 1/2 days. But what an adventure. I recommend traveling in pairs. It is a long way between help along the way.

We've been as far north as the Arctic circle (6-7 hrs N of Fairbanks) and as far south as Seward & the Homer Spit - not counting Hyder AK farther south in Western Canada. 10-4 on the fuel sucking & brake burning hills. We love it & the drive. We've heard that quite often about the only thing worse than -60F is the darkness. Thanks for the visions you posted & your service.
