But neither of those wrecked the box on the truck.  You haven't seen anything until the trailer gets dropped on the box of the truck.

BTW, tailgates on late model trucks are very expensive.  Especially tailgates with steps and power tailgates.  The 2021 GM 2 part tailgate costs several thousand dollars.

Sounds like the fun that can be had hanging out at boat ramps. On a side note, a couple weeks ago I had the opportunity  to bring a 50 ft plukebaum boat from Tennessee  to Louisville  by water. 550 miles at 17 mph. Next best thing to a bus. Sorry for the hijack

I don't know, it sort of worked out on the average--one in, one out.  I shouldn't talk.  After sneaking into a weigh station on a Sunday to weigh my 6000 pound Terry travel trailer I forgot to close the lift gate on my 1969 Chevy suburban before making a sharp right turn out of the scales.  The lift gate slashed a 3 foot gash in the front of the trailer. Stupid is as stupid does!  Jack

Clifford -

Totally agree!  Some of the best free entertainment is watching fellow RV folk.

A couple of winters ago, we were at the Riverside's RV Park in Laughlin, NV. From where we were parked, we could easily see levels 2 & 3 below us.

Often as we sat outside enjoying a cold one, it was quite amusing to watch people trying to park their travel trailers and 5rs . Not to mention the significant other outside barking directions! 'Twas really amazing how many people seem to have spatial awareness issues with their rigs.

FWIW. . . ;)

Just a few days ago, I saw a woman driving her mini van with the rear driver side door wide open.

Then several years ago, I saw a woman filling the tank of her FORD SUPERDUTY pickup truck that had a diesel engine with gasoline.

Yes stupid is stupid does and how in the world do some of these people make it thru their lives up to that point?

While were on the subject of gas in a diesel - a question... If the diesel went into a runaway condition fueled with gas - could that even happen? Or would it just explode? I'm curious and promise I won't try it...TIA

I filled the tank with gas once in my Courier 96 (4-71). Was about half full when I realized. This was after a long day driving, and the nozzle was a color that is usually for diesel. Yea, still stupid... I topped it up with diesel, and added two jugs of Howes diesel treatment. And drove off. No ill effects. Later that winter, I rebuilt it to add a turbo: no apparent damage. The old Detroits are quite tolerant.

The new common rail high pressure fuel systems are not very forgiving .in the old days we never used a fuel treatment in cold weather we would add gasoline to the diesel to stop the jellying ,The green nozzle on E85 gasoline does cause confusion sometimes

For the first 15 years of our bus ownership at the suggestion of many family member OTR truckers (uncles & cousins) we used a quart of ATF/tankful of diesel. Since then we swear by Howe's Diesel Treat. The fuel gurus in Tok AK say in the summer months area fuel is similar to lower 48 distribution but in the winter months it's a winter fuel very similar to kerosene & home heating oil, to flow & not gel at extremely low temps. FWIW
How about the ? of a runaway diesel fueled with gas?! I quess that would be a good thing to not know what the results would be...

Number 1 fuel (Kerosene) was always the primary fuel for the strokes summer and winter till they went to the number 2 fuel back in the 80's all truck stop had a # 1 fuel pump up to that time, the later model diesels all have fuel heaters now to keep from jelling plus the fuel get so hot from the high pressure return there no need for a anti jell additive,I use Standadyne mostly to improve the Cetane for a cleaner burn with my EGR engine

Campgrounds are great entertainment. When Rita and I full timed for a year, you saw a few good ones. Watched an elderly lady using hand signals to back up hubby in brand new Class A, but new at it herself, did not see low tree limb on side she was not watching. We were in the next campsite. I was hooking up our septic Anaconda when KA- POW. He split the entire back fiberglass cap, about 20 feet from my bent over head doing the septic connection. That was loud. I Can't wait to get back out there now that the trend is a 40 foot fifth wheel with a 26 foot truck. There has to be some rodeo moves going on there and spousal yelling until they have done it for some time. A few dents and scratches later. It happens.
We now live on a lake. Lots of entertainment here too! I took care of people's docks by boat for a few years when they would go to Fla for the winter. I did a lot hard learning how to dock, so I could go do the docks. But I got veeery good at it. Even in the wind.
People have hired me to teach them, the wife, or the older kids how to dock since I seem to be so smooth. I tell them "You see all the dings, dents, black marks on my old work boat and the ones you are starting to get on your boat?. 90 percent of those happen at the dock, 10 percent caused by the trailer."
Out on the lake, a chimp can drive a boat. Hardest two things to get people to learn is "If you are SURE you are coming into the dock slow enough, SLOW DOWN. Second thing that seems almost too hard to teach is that using reverse does not hurt the boat. It makes noise, makes a klunk, you have to pull the shifter backwards which is unlike anything you do to stop any other vehicle. They just can't bring themselves to learn it. So we practice that...a lot, way out on the lake.  If you don't practice it- out on the water_ you won't do it at the dock. You will crash.
I notice as I age I am a lot slower pulling the bus into a campsite. Even though we are only 35 feet long and only 96 inches wide (littlest bus we have owned) we slooooow down. My wife backs up better than I do so if is not a pull through site, I bail out, let her drive, and I give signals. Sounds silly?
Still married....
