Summer Road Trip
« on: August 08, 2023, 05:20:22 PM »
Just finished a 3100 mile road trip.  Most of the way was through cooler weather however the heat caught up with us for a couple of days and then it cooled down again.  Didn't see many bus conversions.  Saw a lot of entertainers on the road.  All in all pretty much uneventful other than the price of diesel kept going up as the trip went along.

Okay, but were did you go?  You left out the most important piece of information.   ;)

I don't know Gary... Just the fact that they're driving around is enough for me. I like going places, but I don't like to arrive. It's the driving around that I enjoy.

So you just wander aimlessly around?  Funny, I sometimes leave early in the morning and drive out on back roads in new places I have never been and have no idea where I was or was going until the middle of the afternoon, then I would get out my GPS and figure out how to get home.  Mind you, I do that with my SUV, not my 40-foot-long bus, but maybe that would be more fun, aye? :-)

On my last long road trip.  Before covid.   I left Lenoir NC. Headed to Manhattan Kansas. Took me 3 weeks to get there.

Did not have over 20 miles of interstate travel. Stayed in state or federal or other low cost parks.

Took me longer to get home. Got to see a lot of beautiful America.

I think I am the only bus nut that can go from Lenoir NC to Arcadia FL. without getting on the inter state hy.

The highlights of the trip Denver, Casper WY  Harrison NE  Ainsworth NE  Waukon IA  Praire Du Chein WI Davenpor IA  Seville IL  Cambridge IL Marshfield MO Sayer OK.  Stayed a couple of days most places.  Took over three weeks.  Checked out local culture and old friends.  Went to rodeos and a tractor pull and other events.  Floated in innertubes in  the Spoon river.  Ran 7 miles in Davenport IA.  Went to three live music concerts.  Ate way too much food and had a lot of fun.  Most travel was two lane roads except the last two days heading home.

Yes Gary we are going to Rocky Point in late October and Early November.  We usually go there about twice a year.  Spring and Fall.

We park at playa de oro and don't take a toad.  We bicycle every where we go.  You can do the same from playa bonita also.  A matter of preference.

I stayed at Playa De Oro last year and the cell phone service was terrible. I could not run my business without borrowing my neighbor's Starlink.  I prefer staying at Playa Bonita on the other side of town.  The spaces are more spacious as it is less crowded and in November, you can get spaces where nobody is beside you if you park away from the beach spots a couple of rows.  It is $29/night unless you want beachfront then it is $35/night.   That is where I will be.

You are correct about the cell phone service at Playa De Oro.

Melbo and Espicially Billie  She hated how bad it was.

I will never stay there again because of that.  I need to keep up with BCM on my computer and I cannot do it there.
