6V92TA turbo leaking oil

Hey guys,

Happy almost Thanksgiving!  I was driving my coach (1993 MCI 102C3) Sunday and noticed a bunch of smoke coming out of the back when I got up to freeway speed.  I pulled over and noticed it was leaking oil from the turbo area.  I then noticed a V-bend clamp on the turbo had broke and was loose, so when I got to the campground I ordered the most similar V-bend clamp I could find on short notice, installed it this morning and test drove it.  Unfortunately at freeway speed I still have the smoke and the oil dripping from the turbo housing.

Is this a sign the V-bend clamp I installed is not doing the job and I simply need to get the OEM clamp ordered and installed, or is this a bigger issue like the turbo failing?

 The V band  is not the problem, that is the turbine (hot side) the turbo oil feeds from the center to the turbine and compressor sides nether side should have oil inside the housings you have a turbo going bad. Check the manifolds for oil sometimes a bad cylinder they will push oil there but if that is the  case it will show on the connections from the manifolds to the Y and blow smoke.

When you remove the turbo there is special o-ring underneath the center that needs to be replaced you can get those from Detroit or aftermarket from suppliers on the internet

I’ve run out of talent and can’t get a couple of  the manifold pieces to come loose. I'm not sure when, if ever, those pieces have come off the bus, it’s almost like they’re welded together now.  Anyone know a mechanic in San Diego that isn't scared of these old busses?   I’ve called a couple mobile mechanics and they don’t want to do the job.

Is the O ring you mentioned the little one in the center where the oil line connected?

Hey guys,
The turbo rebuild from TurboResource in Lake Havasu ended up costing $907.   Does that sound right for cost?  I thought it would be closer to $500-600. 

Also if Clifford sees this - is the O ring you mentioned the small one in the middle of the turbo close to where the oil line connected?
