8v92 aluminum valve cover oil fill seal
« on: January 02, 2024, 07:09:38 PM »
Does anyone know where I can get the 2" oil fill seal that goes under the neck and is clamped down with three screws in the valve cover? I took my valve covers off and apart to have them powder coated. While at it, I need to clean the breather steel wool and put new seals for the breather (2) and one oil fill neck seal.

WW Williams,PC Industries,Diesel Pro and others will have those, I don't know the number for fill tube but the breathers are A-5103646 you may need to leave the A off the number in some cases those seals are 4 to 10 bucks for the breathers.

Thank you. I was trying to look through PC but they want you to pay a monthly subscription to see part numbers.

Just call Troy  @ PCI with your serial number if they don't have it e will give you the parts number ,they have a $25.00 min order now he told me,Williamhs in Phoenix should have those, since Bill retired it is hard to get the new guy to check on anything, I don't pay that fee if you don't find it I will look the number up for you it  will be the group numbers.Randy did the fee because he was tired of people using his site and shopping the numbers on the internet

I was at Williams the other day. They have nothing really available according to Manny. He has been a great help but whatever parts he finds he looks online and hopes to match it with something in their stock. I need 4 exhaust clamps but he couldn't find any or help me. I did get coolant and a couple oil filters. They also told me they will no longer service anything 8v92. I left there disappointed. Leo takes care of me when he can at AAA in Mesa but he's been overwhelmed and gearing up for retirement. I have my hands full trying to figure out why the Jakes don''t work. So far wiring is ok. Power is available at switch. I will see if I can get the solenoids to click. For now I have plastic wrap covering the heads while I send out the valve covers. I was able to remove the I.D. stickers from the valve covers. Somehow I would like to get those reproduced.

Leo gave me the name of Marion Jordan in Glendale. I called him and he says he has plenty of clamps. I will stop by tomorrow. Now sure what kind of 8v inventory he has but I have my list just in case! I appreciate your help and will call Troy and D.D. if all else fails. Just frustrated as I am alone in doing all this. Thought it would be easier to find stuff online. Wife is awesome and doesn't ask who what where or when. The ramada and table are my parts counters for now. I had to pull manifolds off since there was carbon traces from leaks. Both sides had corroded gaskets. I do have those on hand. I have new studs since I do not want to take a risk of the old ones breaking. To remove them I just welded a nut and spun them off with my impact. Manifolds and pipes were sent out to get ceramic coated as an experiment to see if it reduces heat. The insulation blankets are tattered. Seems they cost about the same as a new car to replace.

I have wall full of those clamps if your source doesn't work out,be sure the manifolds are setting on the small ledge on the block when you reinstall if not when you tighten the nut it will break the manifolds I have plenty around here people have broken, those are special coated studs too to keep from leaking coolant,be glad William didn't have the clamps they were $60.00 each 7 years ago

When I removed the manifold nuts some of the studs came out which were in the coolant galley. Figured it was best to replace them all and especially since they have that rare out of this world thread sealer on them. I did notice the bumps on the cylinder head to "shelve" the manifolds on. After spending $425 coating these parts, I will certainly be very careful!!

Here's one gasket I forgot to post a pic of. Surely it's common after a while. hopefully I will regain another 3 Hp out of this  ::)

Buy good metal gaskets the black fiber gaskets are not worth the trouble and the crip on the metal gaskets go to the head side and torque is very important on the manifolds nuts

I did get the metal gaskets. Interstate brand. They look like very good quality for the price. Shipping was more costlier! I have to check on the manifold torque spec. Haven't got that far or to that stage yet. Dropped off some parts to my local powder coat shop. Just got home from work and not feeling motivated.
