I-70 from Moab-Denver
« on: February 16, 2024, 01:20:03 PM »
We're plotting out a spring excursion in our '79 MCI-5C that will include a leg from Moab to Denver on April 1.  There appear to be no RV campgrounds open along I-70 between about Glenwood Springs til just west of Denver at that time of year.  We *could* probably do the 340 miles from Moab to Dakota Ridge RV (near Golden) in one day but, damn, there are some serious hills to climb and potentially questionable road conditions to deal with in early April!  Could make for a very long day.

Any suggestions or thoughts on doing that route in a bus at that time of year or places to stop for the night to break it into smaller hunks?  Any issues you've had with your bus climbing at those altitudes?  (FYI, due to scheduled events on either side of this, we don't have the option to cover this section other than on April 1 & 2) Thanks!

"No Name" just east of Glennwood is the only easy access park I can think of on 70 but I can give you plenty of places to overnight park, hth
