6v92 to Allison HT 740D transmission in 1981 Prevost
« on: March 31, 2024, 12:15:51 PM »
Hi folks. Couple of questions here. My 1981 Prevost has a Spicer manual transmission which I am swapping out for an Allison HT740 D.
First, I am putting an oil to air cooler and would like to know what pressure the cooling circuit of these transmissions operate at as I can't find any info in the Allison  manual. If someone could point me to the right reference.
Second, neither the Prevost book or DD 6v92  book seem to show how the modulator cable ties into the accelerator/ governor assembly.
If I missed something in the books or on this site I would appreciate if you point me in the right direction or post some specs/ pics from your own set up. Thanks Curt

The filter circuit  which is the cooler circuit too on a 740 is normally 100 psi to 150 psi but can go higher under a load and high rpm

Perfect, that helps quite a bit. If anyone has a chance to post a picture of the governor / accelerator assembly on a 6v92 where the modulator connects that will clear that up too.
