Anne Sperry, formerly an interior designer and teacher, embarked on a poetic journey with her dog Oliver in a 2007 International CE bus named Poets Journey (PJ) in the fall of 2020. They covered over 30,000 miles across twenty-two states. Sperry's bus conversion journey began with purchasing a bus for $1,500 and underwent a three-month build-out process in Illinois.
Utilizing clever solutions such as wire chases and window insulation, Sperry created a cozy living space equipped with solar power, freshwater and gray water tanks, heating, cooling, and a composting toilet. She emphasizes the importance of aesthetics in bus design for community acceptance. Her journey also includes forming connections with fellow travelers at Skoolie Swarm gatherings.
