How to get by on 30A or Less
« on: August 14, 2024, 12:53:26 PM »

In this article, Jerry Work explains how you can reduce your startup amps with a simple electronic device called an Active Start unit, which softens all of your induction loads so your appliances start with less of a jolt.

Whether in an RV Park or at a friend's house, this simple device may allow you to run more appliances than normal, as the startup Amps is what sometimes trips circuit breakers.

Also, if you are at a rally with many RVs plugged into the same power source, an Active Start unit may be the only way you will have enough power to run your appliances without tripping breakers.

The big advantage of this unit is that it protects your entire coach, so it could pay for itself over time. It will also warn you if the voltage in your rig is incorrect, which may prevent your electrical appliances from burning.

This unit may also allow you to get by with a smaller generator, as it will take fewer start-up Amps to run everything you need to run.
