On the road again

Well after loosing my lease and moving my shop while in the middle of rebuilding a 16V92T for a state water agency and then going to Seattle WA for the pacific marine expo I now will be going to working boat show in new Orleans la. My bus ran good. I did have a bearing go out in the genset and the toilet wont shut off, keeps running water into the holding tank. I am getting 7.8 mpg pulling my 03 Chevy one ton, it weights 6400 lbs and the coach comes in at 34,000lbs. The coach has an 8V92TA DDECII 450hp with a HD4060 trans. I cruse at 75mph while turning 1700rpm.
I will be travailing the I-40 from barstow and then down thru Dallas TX to new Orleans if any body is located along the way maybe we could get together and have a soda.
Have a happy and safe thanksgiving.

Another road trip I have to miss! It got down to the wire before plans of the 'Boss' made me cancel. We'll make a trip one of these days soon. We're out of town till Saturday so I probably won't see you before you go.
That Country Coach is really a nice rig. A few little minor bugs to work out but nothing major. I am amazed at getting that kind of mileage pulling that big ole pickup truck behind.
Be safe and I'll see you when you get back!

I'm green with envy at your mileage. I can get 8.5 but that 8.5 to the Canuck gallon which is more like 7 to the Yankee gallon. And to get that 8.5 I have to run max 60 MPH and I have to stir my own gears.
That rig's a keeper.

Hi Don,
We live in Hawley TX, just north of Abilene off I-20. If you are in the area drop me a PM, would like to meet you and swap lies.
It has snowed here all day, kinda wierd for Thanksgiving around here.

So it's safe to say your fuel mileage comes from having a pretty tall rear end gearing?

Charlie,
Go ahead. Lets hear the brag. Just what is $itty MPG?
I got 2 MPG from a Dodge 440 in a 30 foot Winnie with a three speed 727 Torqueflite. It is a tale.

Don,
You're doing just great! Wish my 6v92 would do that kind of milage alone!
Is your shop still in the Bakersfield area? My bus is stored in Carissa Plains for a couple months while I get the boats out of the way in the shop.
What is your schedule, etc. Need to know how we can get together around Christmas/New Years.

I don't know what model it is Ron. Someone told me it is a "U" but I don't know if that is correct. Its got a goofy shift pattern if that helps - 1st, 2nd & 3rd are where they belong but 4th & 5th are reversed. I turn about 1500 @ 60 MPH

Charley: I know I'm being very negative but I think your poor mileage is caused by that 640 ATEC transmission.
