2001 Detroit Series Diesel with Allison B500r Transmission, both only 65,000 miles (confirmed through the shop). Former RT Dubs with Tag Axle that was used for the Denver to Boulder route (Actually spoke to a former RTD bus driver of it) Also, has hydraulic wheelchair lift
Runs like a top, and I mean runs amazingly (governs at 75 mph)
I found on the internet the Detroit Diesel series 60 is the #2 most popular engine in the world
We had this bus completely checked over by a local shop (can provide an inspection report)
Replaced both batteries with new Interstates
New serpentine belt, not installed
Small air leak when parked and the engine turned off, the part to fix the issue was purchased, but not installed
Removed all the seats
Removed all top shelving
Removed most RTD equipment (still need to chase a few wires to ensure the bus chassis doesn’t need it.
Have found some E manuals for the chassis
Have a CD Manuel for the engine
She is still drivable as I haven’t done anything with the driver’s area yet.
Huge underneath pass through storage, HUGE.
With about 300 sq ft of living space, we started this project to convert and live in upon my retirement next year. Unfortunately, life has changed our plans.
