Started my bus yesterday...

How about you?

Learned that apparently the cruise control switch should be on when the fast idle switch is on? That seemed to keep it from wanting to hunt between fast and slow idle. Andy thought I should be able to set the idle speed with the cruise control but it wouldn't.

Not much more to report, I've about got the extrusions that hold the overhead bins trimmed accurately enough to begin the bulkheads and I bought a couple dozen 2x3's for framing so I hope to make some progress on that in the next couple of weeks. Should be able to start welding up the fresh water tank next week also.

Jim

Yup - Started it for the first time in a few months this weekend. Started instantly, came to pressure, and all systems were a 'go'. Was able to move it out of the winter parking area behind the barn and bring it next to the driveway to start another season of bus life.

I notice on some of the schoolie conversions they used steel studs for the framing. This allows you to "form" the roofline more closely. If I was doing it again I would explore this option.

studs

I like using 3/4 " ply . you can cut it to any size 1.5 " , 2 " , 2.5 " 3 " -
or what ever size you want , you can glue and screw it together to make 1.5 " thick  like a stud if you like . much easier to scribe to the out of square or curved inside of coach . and you lose less space for wall thickness . every inch inside helps

Cliff I never could get mine to work through the cruize. Enabled it with ddct but never did work. I just use the dash switch. Would be nice to be able to adjust the idle speed with the cruize though. I seem to recall there being an issue with a park brake input or something to that effect.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

Some good ideas on the wall studs. What I like about the 2x3 studs is that they are easy to work with and combined with 3/8" marine plywood (7ply, waterproof glue) makes a very solid wall that is light but can easily hold shelves. Thick enough for interior wiring and doorjambs and the final thing, a little thinner than the window dividers. Since I only need two walls it doesn't use a lot of space. Plus they can be bolted into the bus structure using existing nutserts, making for a good solid attachment. Seems like a good plan for my rig anyways. I'll probably glue the plywood to the studs on one side at least.

No plans to access the controller any time soon, but if you guys learn of a definite way to enable that cruise/fast idle thing I'm all ears.
