Air system maintenance
« on: November 18, 2020, 08:00:21 AM »
Preventative maintenance on air systems on the bus. Is there anything to do to keep the air lines in good shape? I'm thinking of something you inject that flows through that removes any buildup or particulate matter over the years. I've not seen any mention of such procedures but figured I'd ask.

I get where you're going with this, but wouldn't doing that make any settled crud airborne again and likely to cause more problems than you'd possibly cure? I'm picturing all kinds of previously settled crud making its way through control valves, causing no end of problems moving forward.

Seems like draining the tanks daily is the main maintenance item. Other than that, periodic inspection for hard/dry air lines or other problems.

No additives. Just service the air dryer regularly. Drain the ping tank often.

PM also includes replacing the compressor discharge line or cleaning the latter I cannot make work that line builds up a lot of carbon inside and will give problems and change the intake filter at least 1 a year if equipped with one

Drain tanks and change filter if compressor uses one. thanks and crap, one more thing on the bus todo list. I guess seeing them all checked is a diesel exhaust induced delusion. lol
