Well, I'm not casting dispersions on RVer who do dumb things. Maybe you all are youngsters but my mind gets more feeble every day. So much so, I forget how many dumbshiiit things I have done. One that comes to mind is somehow I forgot to completely close the engine bay doors and before leaving campground someone points that out.

I left the radiator cover open and backed it into a tree once. Felt kinda dumb about that one.

Picking up relatives at the LAX airport for a family funeral I made a hard right turn in my class C S&S & tried to enter the parking garage for their convenience when I hit the overhead sleeper it was an instant stop with my 300Lb uncle riding shotgun wedged against the firewall on his knees with his head pinned chin down on the dash & head against the windshield - no his seatbelt wasn't buckled. When I got up and stepped back into the camper section I saw the concrete beam through the overhead sleeper. After going to my uncle's aid for the rest of our lives together he referred to me as "Crash Cerrato" and had many a great laughter fits about it. How's that for stupid sheet. I think I learned my lesson on that one cause in 42 years in our 4104 - hardly put a scratch on it...(had my fingers crossed when I said that!) :o

Friend of mine peeled the roof ac off his less than year old 5th wheel hitting a low underpass in a town. Busted a couple roof bows also. Took him a winters worth of evenings and weekends after  work repairing it. Still using it.

Back in the 80's I had a 77 chevy short bed van. You know the one with the roof vent and long window on each side in the back. Bed in the back and swivel seats in the front. Well had the CB in those days and the big whip antenna. Generally clipped down. Wellll we went to Reno and pulled into an under the Casino parking garage. The height looked fine so I pull into the place and drove around as we all talked about our coming night. I look out the mirror and I see an attendant yelling and waving his arms at us. I looked back and then realized I had the antenna up and he was running after us tell me I was breaking all his lights on the ceiling with the antenna. About 20 of them and they were all 8 footers. We said sorry put the antenna down and went else where, LOL

When we were moving from GA to TX a few years ago, we were on I20 in the middle of MS and came past a pickup truck towing THREE minivans daisy-chained together ON THE INTERSTATE.  All of the minivans were marked "IN TOW" (in white shoe polish) on the rear windows, but I don't think the myriad of various LEO jurisdictions on the scene deemed that sufficient.  I have a strong feel that the first officer on the scene put out a "you gotta come see this knucklehead" call...

I think the takeaway here is that if you do something stupid in a park, you're providing free entertainment and not just showcasing your incompetence - if you've done something expensive, maybe put out a tip jar, couldn't hurt.

For the sake of brevity, I will not go into the details of my own screwups.  But I have the suspicion that everyone has had some.  They just avoid boasting about them. I sort of feel that you don't have the right to laugh at other's mistakes unless you can laugh at your own.

However, if this was me I would not admit it.

A couple days ago at HD, something similiar happened. Some clown was tying down several 4x8 sheets of ply with that free cheezy thin twine. Like NO WAY was that going to hold. I can attest to stuff flying off the roof but story already told on that one. :(

The boat docks are always good for lasting memories,, the classic is the guy that is tied up to a dock with an outboard that won't start.. After removing the engine cover and fiddling for awhile he begins yanking on the start rope and cussing each time,,,, then the damn thing fires and in gear with wide open throttle,,, at which time he wipes out half the other boats tied to the same dock....>>>Dan

I ran into something similar on I-80 in Nebraska back in May.  A crashed, but drivable, car flat towing two or three other crashed cars.  They were driving well under the speed limit and backing up traffic.  Totally illegal as in most states you can only have one trailer/vehicle towed on a ball hitch.  The string of vehicles also had no lights on the rear car.

I called the State Patrol and reported them.  I hope the State Patrol stopped them before something bad happened like a vehicle rear ending them with no brake lights.

I saw a boat and a new Prevost that both went into the water, the guy was in the boat and signaled his wife to go and she did but the bus was in reverse ,I still remember the sound the series 60 made when it sucked the water into the air cleaner
